Religions
Eastern Orthodox Christianity dominates in Bulgaria and comprises of 6 552 751 people that equals to 82.6% of the total country population.
By March 1st, 2001, when the latest census was conducted, the Muslim religion came second.
966 978 people declared to be Muslim – 12.2%.
Third ranks Catholic Christianity. In the census its followers amounted up to 43 811 people or 0.6% of the population.
Unlike Catholics whose numbers have decreased in the last 8 years the Protestant followers have become even more. Its numbers have doubled up to 42 308 people.
6 5000 people profess Armenian faith.
Other religious groups are as follows: Jewish - 573, Dunovist (White Brotherhood) – 1 243, Buddhist - 1 042, Krishnan - 533, Bahayan - 105, Lutheran - 23
Ethnic groups
In the 2001 census 6 665 210 people have declared their belonging to the Bulgarian ethnic
group, 746 664 – to the Turkish, 370 908 are Roma, 15 595 - Russian, 10 382 – Armenian, 10 566 - Wallachian, 5 071 - Macedonian, 3 408 - Greek, 2 489 - Ukrainian, 1 363 - Jewish, 1 088 - Romanian, 18 792 - other. The bar has been raised and now every member of your organisation has to
